What is the content inside my Heat Pack?
The liquid inside the pack is made of super saturated salt and vinegar solution. It is completely non-toxic, food grade sodium acetate (like salt and vinegar in potato chips) and the metal disc inside is a stainless steel disc.
How do I activate the Heat pack?
Find the Stainless Steel disc floating inside the pack. Flexing this disc sets off a reaction, causing the liquid inside to crystallise and heat up to a safe comfortable 52 deg. This is called an exothermic reaction and can be done hundreds of times, as there is no battery to run out.
I tried clicking the disc inside my Heat pack, but it won’t work.
If the disc has never been clicked before, it may require couple of extra clicks, only for the first time. The best way to activate would be to flex the disc all the way back and hold it down for 5 full seconds and let it go. Try this for 3 times and this would start the reaction.
How long does the heat last once clicked?
The heat will last between 30 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the pack and up to 120 min by insulating it with our Mediscope ceramic bead belt. The small hand warmers last approx. 30-40 minutes. The mid size sport/knees and joint heat pack will last up to 60 minutes. The Lower Back Pack and Neck and Shoulder Pack last for about 90 minutes. They all reach the same temperature of 52°C but the larger they are the longer the heat lasts.
Is the temperature of the Heat Packs safe?
The packs will heat up to 52 degrees. This is typically a perfectly safe temperature. It is a lot safer than a wheat bag or a hot water bottle.
If you have particularly sensitive skin, you could easily place a towel or a scarf between your skin and the hot pack to regulate the temperature.
How to reset the Heat pack after being used?
To reset the packs, simply boil them in water until completely clear, then allow cooling to room temperature. The next time you need it, just click the disc again.
Do I have to reset the heat pack straight after use?
Not at all. You can reset at your convenience before the next use. It is recommended to store it in its liquid form, this extents the longevity of the heat pack.
I boiled my Heat Pack and it is crystallising all over again by itself. Is my pack defective?
This is a common question, the reason this happens is because the boiling time wasn’t enough to melt all the crystals back to its original liquid form. There were one or a few crystals left behind that sets off the chain of crystals again. So return the heat pack to boil until all the crystals dissolve.
How do I make it a cold pack?
You could leave the pack in the refrigerator to use as a cold pack or in a freezer for a quick 15 minutes. It is recommended not to store the pack in the freezer for an extended length of time, this may reduce the longevity of the pack
You could also alternate from cold to hot by clicking the button after using it cold.
